Guitar Legend Scott Henderson To Release New Album “Karnevel!”, Announces Forthcoming European Tour
Nacido en 1954, Scott Henderson creció en una era en la que el blues-rock estaba en pleno auge. Sus años de formación musical tuvieron lugar en el sur de Florida, donde tocaba cualquier género, desde Led Zeppelin a James Brown, con todo tipo de bandas en los clubes de la zona. Mientras aprendía el instrumento asimilaba las influencias de Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix y Ritchie Blackmore, además de los grandes guitarristas de blues Albert King y Buddy Guy. Pero su estilo propio de tocar la guitarra le llevó al terreno del jazz, género por el que es reconocido a nivelmundial.
Tras trabajar con Chick Corea, Jean-Luc Ponty, Jeff Berlin y Joe Zawinul, formó, en 1984, la banda Tribal Tech con el bajista Gary Willis. En 1991 fue proclamado por Guitar World como el guitarrista de jazz número uno, y en enero de 1992 obtuvo el mismo galardón en la encuesta anual de los lectores. Su primer álbum de blues en solitario, Dog Party (una bienvenida retrospectiva a sus comienzos musicales), ganó el premio al mejor álbum blues de guitarra en 1994.
El segundo álbum para Mesa/Bluemoon Records emparejó a Henderson con la legendaria vocalista Thelma Houston. Tore Down House fue lanzado en abril de 1997 y recibió cuatro estrellas por las revistas Jazz Time, Guitar Player, Guitar, Guitar Shop y L.A. Jazz Scene Magazine. Well To The Bone, su tercer y más complejo trabajo, es un disco en trío con su banda habitual de gira (Kirk Covington, batería, y John Humphrey, bajo).
Su vertiente pedagógica le ha llevado a impartir clases en el Instituto de Músicos de Hollywood, además de escribir columnas para las revistas Guitar Player, Guitar World y Guitar School Magazine. Columbia ha lanzado dos videos instructivos de Henderson: Jazz Fusion Improvisation y Melodic Phrasing. Sus libros de guitarra (dos colecciones de sus composiciones) se encuentran disponibles, así como su más reciente libro Jazz Guitar Chord System, una revolucionaria manera para los estudiantes de estudiar las pluralidades de las armonías jazz.
Influenciado tanto por Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Richie Blackmore, Buddy Guy , Albert King, entre otros, ha obtenido numerosos premios de magazines especializados al mejor guitarrista del año.

Guitar Legend Scott Henderson To Release New Album “Karnevel!”, Announces Forthcoming European Tour
Scott Henderson will be releasing his highly anticipated new album “Karnevel!” on February 2, 2024! Scott’s previous album “People Mover” was voted best fusion album of 2019 by Jazz Times magazine, and he won both Best Guitarist and Best Electric/Jazz-Rock/
“Karnevel!” features a diverse set of beautiful compositions, and demonstrates Scott's striking ability to combine elements of jazz, rock, funk and blues in an authentic, seamless and musical way. After 35 years as a bandleader, Scott is a musician who's playing and composing continues to grow.
The album was recorded live in the studio with Romain Labaye on bass and Archibald Ligonnière on drums, the same musicians on “People Mover.” After the live session, Scott spent quite a bit of time layering additional guitar tracks. “I’m happy I was able to come up with quite a few sounds I’ve never used before” said Scott in a recent interview. “The variety and pacing are very important aspects of a record to me, and this one covers a lot of territory, from heavy rock moments to very harmonic jazz, and there’s a solo guitar piece which is something I haven’t done on an album before”.
Scott replied about the album concept, “It comes from being a fan of the LA Fair and carnivals in general, not so much as a kid, but from being a dad. Disneyland is fun, but the fair is way more quirky, ridiculous, and always hilarious. It’s a crazy atmosphere filled with variety, like my music.”
